Background

‍In 2023, Bechtel embarked on the Pluto Train 2 and 3 expansion project, requiring a high-performance fire ring main system to support critical infrastructure. DAMOS was engaged to manufacture and supply HDPE pipes, fittings, and custom-fabricated spools for the project. The scope involved the production of over 540 spools based on isometric drawings; This technically complex undertaking marked a significant milestone for DAMOS, particularly with the introduction of custom-coated backing rings. With a six-month timeline and demanding specifications, the project underscored DAMOS’ commitment to precision engineering and timely delivery.

HDPE Pipe Production

• DN500 SDR9, DN355 SDR9, and DN180 SDR9 pipes, all manufactured to meet stringent AS/NZS 4130 standards.
• Pipes were engineered for high-pressure applications, ensuring durability and reliability in fire main systems.

Custom Coated Backing Rings

• First-time production of custom-coated backing rings by DAMOS, designed to resist corrosion and enhance system longevity.
• Coatings were meticulously applied to meet environmental and operational requirements.

Spool Fabrication

• Fabrication of over 540 spools based on detailed isometric drawings provided by Bechtel.
• Each spool was hydrotested to ensure it met operational pressure requirements and adhered to quality standards.

Testing and Quality Assurance
